Mikkel Meyer & Obscura

Sound artist Mikkel Meyer and the artistic collective Obscura transform Dansk Arkitektur Center / The Danish Architectural Centre into a digital diving bell, and bring the audience along for an auditory and visual journey deeply into the digital underworld. They will hunt for hidden poetry in image and sound and will ask: What is the sound of algorithms made for the purpose of profit-maximizing or for surveillance of potential terrorists? As a composer Meyer has sought for inspiration in Gamepieces from the avant-gardist composer John Zorn, where Zorn creates the music using a range of certain rules communicated to the musicians by way of certain signs. Mikkel Meyer’s musicians are digital machines conducted by him, and on the visual side Obscura uses robotic cameras that figures in an interactive communication between machines and humans.
