Diamanda Galás

A tribute to the power of the voice, the wonder of the vocals and the most powerful expression of the vocal arts. Nothing less than three of the most awe-inspiring vocalists are scheduled for a unique concert-event beneath the dome of the Marble Church.

The Greco/American vocal virtuoso and pianist Diamanda Galás (b. 1955) has consequently created an avant-garde expression of her own which – exceptionally - has a three and a half octaves’ span. Diamanda Galás’ singing has its roots in the opera, and the musical versatility is enormous: From quiet whispers and penetrating screams to special Arabic singing techniques and the gift of tongues. Tonight she will present a program especially arranged for the imposing architecture of the Marble Church, in which her extreme vocal potential will be searching for new extents.
